Build–Operate–Transfer

We build it, we run it, you own it.

01The model

Build–Operate–Transfer is the model for organisations that want to own a capability long term but cannot afford the time, risk or learning curve of building it from scratch. Advait designs and stands up the operation, runs it through ramp and stabilisation to steady-state maturity, and then transfers it to you as a turnkey, proven asset.

The transfer is contractual and planned from day one — including the people, the documented processes, the technology stack and the governance — so there is no cliff edge. You acquire a capability that already works, with the operational risk of standing it up already retired.

02The journey

How the engagement runs

01

Build

Site, hiring, technology, process design and governance stand-up to an agreed target operating model.

02

Operate

Advait runs the operation through ramp and stabilisation to contractual steady-state performance.

03

Transfer

People, process, technology and governance transfer to your control under a planned, de-risked handover.

03When it fits

Best suited to

Captive centres and GCCs you intend to own
Capabilities core to your long-term strategy
Markets or functions where you lack an operational beachhead
Boards that want ownership without the build risk

Commercials & risk

Build and operate phases are fee-based with clear milestones; the transfer is governed by a pre-agreed mechanism covering valuation, retention and knowledge transfer. Risk sits with Advait through build and ramp, when it is highest.

What you control

You retain strategic control and full visibility throughout, and acquire complete operational ownership at transfer.

04How it is run

Governance, transition and the machinery beneath it

Governance & oversight

A joint steering committee owns strategy, investment and the transfer roadmap from day one; Advait runs operational governance day to day. Transfer criteria — capability, documentation, leadership readiness and performance stability — are defined up front and reviewed at every gate, so ownership moves on evidence, not on a calendar date.

Transition methodology

The build follows a milestone-based mobilisation plan — entity, facility, technology, recruitment and process design run as parallel work-streams. The eventual transfer is engineered backwards from day one: every process is documented, every role is designed to be handed over, and a structured knowledge-transfer and leadership-onboarding programme runs through the operate phase so there is no cliff edge.

Technology & security

Built on your target architecture (or ours, designed to migrate) so the transferred capability runs on a stack you can own. Security, access control and compliance are established to your standard from launch, not retrofitted before handover.

How it scales

Designed to scale during the operate phase so you inherit a capability already proven at volume, with headroom and a playbook for further growth post-transfer.

05Held to account

The metrics this model is measured on

01Build-milestone and ramp-plan adherence
02Steady-state SLA and quality attainment before transfer
03Documentation and knowledge-transfer completeness
04Leadership-readiness and transfer-criteria scorecard
06The decision

Why leaders choose it — and where it is not the fit

Why leaders choose it

Own the capability long term without carrying the build-and-ramp risk
Acquire a proven, working asset rather than a project plan
Compress time-to-capability in a new market or function
De-risk the hardest phase — standing it up — by placing it with operators who have done it before

Where it is not the fit

Not the fastest route if you never intend to own the operation — Managed Operations is simpler
Requires commitment to the transfer mechanics and a receiving leadership structure
Best value when the capability is genuinely core to your long-term strategy
